Growing up in a military family means that I move every few years. In August 2014 we moved to California. Normally I'm good at making new friends, but the middle school that I was supposed to be going to, I could not stand! They didn't have an honors program, which I had been doing, but the thing that bugged me the most was the fact that they did not know how to deal with military families. Which I normally wouldn't care about, but the school is right next to the base and half of their students belong to military families. So, my amazing parents let me do k12 online school.

The problem with online school is that you basically have no social interaction (Which means I had no friends in Cali). A couple of months after we moved, I learned that my best friend was suicidal. There were some days she would call me and I had to talk her out of killing herself and for a long time I was the only one that could help her. I was so stressed out and depressed that some days I wouldn't eat or sleep. Finally I told my parents what was happening and we figured out a way to help her get better, but even after that a lot of scary things happened. She ended up in the hospital for a while and even when she was doing much better, I was still insanely depressed.

On January 31st, one year ago today, I don't even know what to say except the cliché that I was a totally different person. But also on January 31st, 2015, I went to the first rehearsal for a show called Aladdin JR. And on that day, I met a lot of amazing people. They are people I admire, aspire to be like, some of my best friends, and people that I love with all my heart. You guys are the reason I'm no longer depressed, and possibly the reason I'm still on this earth. So, even if we didn't become friends right away, thank you guys so much for everything, and Happy Anniversary!

Whimsical Wednesday?

We realize that we don't post much in the middle of the week, but that's because we haven't been able to think of any good ideas! We knew that we wanted to do a "Geek" type thing, and we think we came up with a good one! As most Fandoms tend to be fantasy (or Sci-Fi) we were thinking Whimsical Wednesday. We'll post pretty much anything that has to do with fandoms. Fan theories, make up and hair tutorials inspired by characters, and possibly links to some of our Youtube videos. And thank you guys for visiting our blog!

Happy Motivation Monday! Today is the first day of Tech week for my upcoming show. If you don't know what tech week is, you're very lucky. It is THE most stressful and draining time for an actor, director, stage manager, techie, and everyone else involved in putting a show together. And because of that, I'm going to give myself a little motivation today:

I'm a Theatre Kid.
I belt show tunes when I'm home alone.
I wait weeks to see my costume and eat in it when I finally get it.
I doodle lyrics on all my school papers and highlight all my parts the day I get my script.
I keep all my show bills and obsess over Broadway.
Some people call it crazy.
And that's what I am
A Crazy Theatre Kid

But in case you aren't a theatre kid, I've got a quote for you, with an edit I made a while ago:

Have a Great Week!

Happy Motivation Monday!

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr., our quote today is by him:

If you cant fly then run,
If you can't run then walk,
if you can't walk then crawl,
but whatever you do,
you have to keep moving forward.

Enjoy your day, and please take a moment to remember what he and many others did for our country!

Today's Motivation Monday Quote is:

Life is short. Smile while you still have teeth!

Enjoy your day Internerds! And don't forget to Smile! :)

First post of 2016! And ever, really. So last year Matea and I started a Youtube Channel called chicandgeek, and we haven't posted a video in a long time, because we've had a lot going on, but this year we're going to try to do better. Our videos tend to be more geeky than chicey (I just invented a word!) so this blog will add the chic to our geek. The reason that I thought we should start a blog is because it will be much easier to keep up with then doing videos once a week, so if there isn't a video, we'll still probably make a post. We'll start posting videos in Feb. because right now I'm in the last month before my show, and there's a lot to get done! I really don't know everything we'll be doing with this blog, but right now I'm thinking about doing #OOTW, outfit of the week. On Saturday's we'll post a picture of the favorite outfits we wore that week, because #OOTD is a little much if you ask me. (and I'm not super fashionable everyday...) We'll try our best to stick with it this year! Have a great day Internerds!
